Adios Albert!

Well, St. Louis has been jilted by the great Albert Pujols and, while most are taking it somewhat reasonably, there is a contingent that have obviously lost touch with today’s professional athlete.

No more will the Cardinal fans at Busch Stadium see this pose from the legendary #5 as he’s now a member of the Anaheim Angels.  Perhaps he may be the greatest right handed batter ever to play baseball, but is certainly the best slugger of his era, Albert Pujols’ baseball exploits transfixed St. Louis and Cardinal Nation for eleven years.

I for one will be sad to see him go as he brought tons of excitement to the game and to the Cards.  I cannot fault the guy for accepting such a great offer to go to Hollywood.  California compared to St. Louis really isn’t a comparison and Albert will own that town.  He’s a great player and an even better man and will certainly be missed.

There is no replacing a guy like this in the lineup or in the community.  The Cardinals will suffer and I figure a 3rd place finish is probably right for this team full of question marks.

I’ll follow Albert and the Angels consistently and will be glad I got to see one of the all-time greats for eleven years.
